Lauren Stewart

Lauren Stewart grew up in Columbia, S.C. and played six years of Varsity Tennis at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School. While playing junior tennis, she was ranked top three in South Carolina, top 20 in the South, and top 100 in the Nation.

From 2001-2002, she played for Coach Sarah Hatgas at Division III Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. While playing at Rhodes, she earned a First-Team Singles All-Conference Title with a 23-2 singles record.

In the fall of 2002, Lauren transferred to the Southern Conference to play Division I tennis at the College of Charleston. While at CofC, she played #1 Doubles and #4 Singles for Coach Angelo Anastopoulo. Lauren received a full athletic scholarship from 2003-05 at the College of Charleston, where her team won the 2003 Southern Conference Championship. Lauren was the recipient of numerous honors during her time at College of Charleston, including the 2003 and 2005 Coach’s Award and the Most Valuable Player for the 2002-03 tennis season. She also received Southern Conference First -Team Doubles Honors in 2005. Lauren was a Scholar Athlete, which means she was able to excel inside the classroom while competing at the highest level of competition on the court.

Lauren has been at The Woodlands since Feb. 1, 2010. During her time at The Woodlands, she has coached top level junior players who have excelled at the college level. She has coached five USTA JTT teams to State and one team to Southerns. Over fifteen of her adult teams have made it to the City Playoffs and on to the State Championships. In the Fall of 2013, Lauren was named one of the top youth tennis providers in the Southeast.

Lauren is now serving on the Board of Directors for USTA South Carolina as a Presidential Appointee, and she serves as the Vice Chair of the USTA South Carolina Tennis Coaches Committee. Lauren is an adjunct tennis instructor at the University of South Carolina and has been teaching at USC since 2008. She and her mom, Sarah, are also the 10U Junior Team Tennis Level Coordinators for the Columbia Tennis League. Lauren is currently certified by the Professional Tennis Registry and has a 5.5 NTRP rating. 

Sarah Stewart
Director of 10 & Under Junior Development

Sarah Stewart is not only an avid tennis player, but she is also Lauren's mother and was her coach growing up. Sarah guided Lauren through all levels of her tennis development from Junior Tennis League, junior tournaments, High School Tennis, and eventually to Division I college tennis. Sarah is currently a 4.0 player, and she plays on two USTA teams. She has enjoyed playing competitive tennis for over 30 years. Sarah is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry in Quick Start tennis for the 10 & Under age group.

 

Sarah has been the Director of the 10 & Under Program since 2012. In that time, she has coached three JTT teams to the State Championships. Sarah is also the 10U Junior Team Tennis Level Coordinator for the Columbia Tennis League.
